The city of Mount Rainier is located in the Gateway Art District in Prince Georges County Maryland and celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. The local leadership is committed to sustainable agriculture and providing the freshest fruit and vegetables to the local community as well as surrounding areas of Hyattsville, College Park, Brentwood, and Northeast DC. The market is operated by the city of Mount Rainier and is located at One Municipal Place just across from city hall.
The Mount Rainier Farmers Market is a producer only market which offers farm grown fruits and vegetables from farms in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The idea of an producer only market is critical for this market-we want to provide economic support for local farmers in the Chesapeake area.Our vendors grow and/or make everything they sell during their natural season! You will not see cantaloupes at our market in June or pineapples at any table!
Each week, vendors offer seasonal produce and goods. All of our farmers use methods which are safe not only for their customers but for themselves and their farm workers.We encourage you to talk with the farmers. Many have great recipes for their products as well as tips on growing your own garden. Pick a not so busy time with your vendor get to know the person that helps keep you and your family healthy.
